First ever piece of music or film or show that really moved you:

I saw Labyrinth when I was eight and I feel like that was a game changer. I was super inspired by everything in that film. I’m pretty sure that kick- started my deep love for Bowie and puppets.

Your best celebrity encounter(s):

When I was performing at Camp Cosmic a few years ago, my dancer came up to me all excited and was like, ‘OMG Robyn is in the crowd’. The whole show, Robyn was laughing and jumping up and down with excitement and afterwards she came up to me with two thumbs up and gave me a biiiiiiig hug and told me to never listen to anyone who tries to change my style and to keep doing what I’m doing no matter what!

Also George Michael once turned up to a gig I was playing in a sleazy basement in Sydney and was one of the first people in the club. He was super friendly.

You can portal back to any period of human cultural history or music event — where, when, and why?

Late 1970s in San Francisco or early ’80s in NYC. I would have loved to have connected with the heads running the scenes then like The Cockettes and Jack Smith. I could have lived the real deal non stop disco life for real!

You’re curating your dream festival — which artists are on the bill?

Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, David Bowie, Mighty Boosh, Klaus Nomi

Do you have any interestingancestors or family?

My dad is quite the character. He drives the fastest truck in the world... The Bandag Bullet! Also, apparently I’m related to Napoleon.

Unsung hero:

Next level performance artist sex clown Betty Grumble is FIRE. Her contributions to the well being of this planet are inimitable via love, anger, dancing, etc. She is a true inspiration and is currently kicking ass wherever she goes.

You are queen for a day — what’s your first decree?

I have a few... Wi-fi is only available from 6-10pm: All slaughtering ofanimals will cease; no more production of plastic; electricity and rent willbe free.
