While talk of traffic dominated Day One at the All Together Now festival in Waterford, alas it was the weather that took a U-turn on Saturday.
Whereas sunshine greeted campers to Curraghmore House on Friday, unfortunately as Saturday went on the conditions slowly took a turn for the worse.
While by no means the worst rain seen at an Irish festival, by Saturday evening the light - but continuous - precipitation seemed to influence crowd movements.
Many sought sanctuary in tents - either their own or that of a stage or bar.
Though people could be seen running for cover as the rain came in, prior to that, the sole attraction of the Something Kind of Wonderful stage before the change in weather was Kojaque & the Soft Boy Band, who packed the stage to capacity.
Come the evening, Father John Misty’s opening lyric - “Sun is rising” - from Hangout at the Gallows felt almost like an ironic reference to the weather that kept a good chunk of the crowd away from a Main Stage - but to their loss.
Josh Tillman - dressed in a self-confessed Mac Demarco look of a hoodie and tracksuit pants due to lost luggage - delivered a weekend-highlight set, with Chateau Lobby #4, Real Love Baby, and closer I Love You Honeybear among the highlights.
The rain had stopped by the night, which belonged to Patti Smith on the Main Stage.
Her set took a meandering walk through classics that pleased the crowd, touching upon the Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, and Them and dropping her own ‘Because The Night’ and ‘People Have The Power’ in a popular set closer.
The late night was soundtracked by dance, and attendees were torn between an overlap of Hot Chip on the Main Stage and Jon Hopkins over on Something Kind of Wonderful.
The former added a cover of the Beastie Boys' Sabotage to their repertoire, the latter had the marquee packed to the seams.
For many, day two ended in the early hours of Sunday morning with Today FM DJ Kelly-Anne Byrne’s joyous Prince tribute on the Belonging Bandstand - and thankfully sunshine bathed down on campers emerging from their slumber for Day 3.
