The best reaction to Donal Óg's 'British culture' comment

Former Cork goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack caused a bit of a stir on social media after describing people who criticise managerial tactics as showing "part of the last remnants of British culture on these islands".

Speaking on The Sunday Game alongside Brendan Cummins and Irish Examiner columnist Derek McGrath, Cusack said that those who criticise the tactics of managers like Davy Fitzgerald and McGrath would have pushed back against other innovations in the sport.

"The same fellas who are challenging that type of stuff I bet they would have challenged picking the ball of the ground.

"I actually believe that type of accusation of disrespecting the traditions of the game is part of the last remnants of British culture on these islands," the Cloyne man said.

The bizarre comment generated a lot of reaction with impressionist Conor Moore joking that it was him, and not Cusack who made the comments.

After the comments, some wondered what it meant if Cusack got the Cork manager's job.

There was also frustration from viewers that the Corkman was needlessly negative after a superb weekend with two nail-biting semi-finals.
