The best reaction to Donal Óg's 'British culture' comment
Former Cork goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack caused a bit of a stir on social media after describing people who criticise managerial tactics as showing "part of the last remnants of British culture on these islands".
Speaking on The Sunday Game alongside Brendan Cummins and columnist Derek McGrath, Cusack said that those who criticise the tactics of managers like Davy Fitzgerald and McGrath would have pushed back against other innovations in the sport.
"The same fellas who are challenging that type of stuff I bet they would have challenged picking the ball of the ground.
"I actually believe that type of accusation of disrespecting the traditions of the game is part of the last remnants of British culture on these islands," the Cloyne man said.

The bizarre comment generated a lot of reaction with impressionist Conor Moore joking that it was him, and not Cusack who made the comments.
Lads relax it’s just me doing an impression of Donal Og! Ya hardly think he blamed the British for criticizing defensive play!! 🤦🏻♂️

After the comments, some wondered what it meant if Cusack got the Cork manager's job.
There was also frustration from viewers that the Corkman was needlessly negative after a superb weekend with two nail-biting semi-finals.
Yeah so the Donal Og thing wasn’t a weird fever dream I had. How were they allowed to derail from the point so massively. Derek McGrath is a great pundit but he went way off the book too.

Lord God All Mighty😮 No mention of 3 disallowed Tipp Goals and a Shocking Referring display on the Sunday Game. Talking about Waterford in 2016 and British Culture is hardly relevant!! Woeful Analysis of a Great Game #SundayGame

They had that rant all setup and ready to go. Utter rubbish.

Donal Og and Derek McGrath waste 10 mins of @TheSundayGame pontificating about hurling philosophies and ideaologies. Joe Public would prefer if you just raved about the exhibition of skill and manliness that we saw today.

RTÉ football pundit Joe Brolly was harsher in his assessment...
We are in an era of absurdism. From Trump to Boris, from motivational gurus to self curing of cancer. Stupid, confident people are taking over the planet..... https://t.co/DjMMV0gAGL
