LOOK: The best Irish election posters from over the years

It’s that time of year again when our beautiful green countryside is filled with the familiar faces of our local councillors.
From telephone poles to stone bridges, election posters and paraphernalia hang up as part of the upcoming local and European election campaigns.
Although it may annoy some residents and passersby, there’s one man revels in it - Alan Kinsella, @electionlit.
The Irish election expert has been collecting literature since 1983 and recently became a guest curator of the Irish Twitter account @Motherfoclóir so he could share a part of his collection.
One of his collections and personal favourites is one that made us laugh out loud and that is, 'the candidates with nicknames'.
Starting off a thread with John "Texas" Byrne, who is running in Enniscorthy, it continues to Kerry, who he notes as being the county with the most nicknames.
One of the things with Local Elections is that there are many more candidates with nicknames.
