Online Lives: Award-winning blogger Lorna Duffy
Award-winning blogger Lorna Duffy spilts her time between her website, fashionboss.ie, and her full-time job as a social media marketer and a stylist and presenter on TV3’s Morning Ireland.
“I have a background in digital marketing so naturally I love all things digital and media related,” she says.
“I am all about fashion, but I do post about travel and general lifestyle topics from time to time too.
“Anything from street style and seasonal fashion trends to travel guides and holiday diaries.
“I LOVE photography and I am an adrenaline junkie. Yes, I like to jump out of airplanes when I get the chance.”
The Dublin-based blogger’s favourite social media platform is Instagram, where almost 16,000 people follow @fashionboss_ie.
“Instagram is the platform I use most frequently. It is the easiest way to interact with my readers/followers and it’s a great way to promote both my blog posts and my YouTube videos.
“Honestly, I pretty much live online and my friends will 100% back me up on this. I have always had an interest in all things digital and I used social media a lot even before I had a blog,” she says.
“I will admit that I probably check my Instagram at least 1-2 times an hour if not more. I love creating visual content for Instagram and my latest hobbie is travel vlogging.”
Lorna credits her online presence with a lot of her opportunities, in both her blogging and her career.
“From a career point of view, social media is a great way to get your name out there. Back in my college days, I used LinkedIn quite a bit and this led to a number of work opportunities,” she says.
“From a blogging point of view, my blog, Instagram, and Twitter are also great platforms for networking, and they are a good way to get to know people in the industry.”
Lorna says there is a lot of hard work behind creating and maintaining a successful blog, but that she enjoys the process.
“Starting a blog from scratch involves a lot of work, making it a success is a slow process and building a following takes time and a lot of hard work,” she says.
“Maintaining a blog and constantly having content to post can be a challenge, and it is time-consuming but once it’s something you enjoy it doesn’t feel like work.
“If I didn’t have my blog and my social media platforms I think I would be lost. They are a major part of my life so it’s safe to say Fashion Boss won’t be going anywhere any time soon.”
