Kildare man blaggs way into movie awards ceremony, impresses director with impressions

A soccer fan who travelled to Cardiff for Ireland v Wales found himself mingling with the stars at a Welsh awards ceremony, writes Denise O'Donoghue.

John Paul Wright, a loyal Ireland supporter from Kildare, travelled to Wales with his friends and the group decided to dress up and go for drinks one night.

"The night before the game we decided to hit the town wearing fancy clothes," he told us.

"We got quite drunk. I lost the lads and ended up getting myself into the Welsh 'Academy Awards' where I told them I was an actor."

John Paul had a stroke of luck when he bumped into someone at the British Academy Cymru Awards who recognised his unique talants.

"I’m quite good at accents and met a director who was impressed. He bought me a load of drinks and put me in touch with a voiceover agent who requested a video."

Watch the video John Paul made for the voiceover agent here:

John Paul says the response to his video has been bigger than he expected.

"Reaction has been crazy. I only did it for the craic," he said.

"I’ve somehow ended up on the Turkish news."
