You have to see this Snapchat-filtered photo this Irish student used for his ID card

An Irish student's hilarious ID card is going viral.

Dáire Mac Giolla Seathanaigh has started studying law over in Liverpool, and by the looks of it he's going to find it tricky to get into the student bars.

The Belfast student had been at an all-night DJ event and was a wee bit tipsy when he got home, so he thought it would be great craic to take a few filtered selfies on Snapchat.

No harm done, except he then thought it'd be a good idea to load one of them onto the Student Union website to apply for his NUS card.

He posted the card and his reaction on Facebook: "Jesus Christ I drunkenly applied for my NUS card and it asked for a photo so I picked one with a snapchat filter. Why did they accept this I can never use it as ID?"

Still, it doesn't seem to have done any harm as Daire has told Metro that he's already used it to buy a present for his girlfriend.

When he bought the gift in River Island, he had no problem getting his student discount, as Daire explained: "The server sort of did a double-take at the card and just said ‘Okay’ and went along with it."

His post has since got more than 14,000 likes, and he's going to keep the ID until next September as it would cost him £12 to replace it with a proper photo.
