PICS: This mysterious wedding gift, opened 9 years later, turned out to be the best present ever

Wedding gifts can be hit or miss but one thing is sure, it is rare to get one that is still unopened after nine years!
Kathy and Brandon Gunn from Michigan got a mysterious parcel on their wedding day, September 2007 with a note saying not to open until their first disagreement.
Apparently it took the pair nine years to finally open the package and even then it was not in bad spirits, talk about a healthy marriage!
The pair said despite âplenty of disagreements, arguments and slammed doorsâ throughout their marriage, the letter remained unopened.
The pair even moved house three times, carrying the present to their new home without opening it.
These people have unbelievable self-restraint!
Finally the pair opened it after a discussion about what to buy a friend on her wedding day led them to comtemplate what their most valued present had been from their own wedding.
Posting on the Love What Matters Facebook page Kathy said the gift that had meant the most to them was still wrapped up and unopened upstairs in the cupboard.
Kathy said: â I honestly think that we both avoided turning to the box, because it would have symbolised out failure.â
She said they were constantly second guessing themselves: âWas it really time to open the box? What if this isn't our worst fight?â
The pair has assumed that the parcel contained the secret to saving a marriage: and age-old trick â unbeknownst to us rookiesâ but when they finally opened the present they were bemused by what they found.
Bath products, two wine glasses and a vase along with two envelopes, one for Kathy and Brandon.

Kathy's envelope contained money which she was instructed to spend on Pizza or Shrimp, something you both like and Brandon's envelope contained money he was instructed to spend on flowers and a bottle of wine.
A nice relaxed evening for the pair of them, but for Kathy and Brandon the present meant a lot more than a nice evening.
âFor nine years that box sat high on a shelf in various closets gathering dust, yet it somehow taught us about tolerance, understanding, compromise and patience.
âToday, we decided to open that box, because I finally had a realisation. I realized that the tools for creating and maintaining a strong healthy marriage were never within the box â they were within us.â
Kathy decided to share the post to highlight this moment and also to commemorate the present that taught them so much with so little.
And we are glad she did.
