Boat crew saves young raccoon who was adrift for hours

The poor thing was wrecked.

What better way to celebrate America's Independence Day than by freeing a small animal from the cold grip of the sea?

This American boat crew were out on the water early yesterday morning when they noticed a strange noise coming from the water. At first they thought it was birds but a few hours later they finaly found the source "a young raccoon treading water on the side of the boat."

The poor little thing must have been swimming for ages, so they threw him a life vest (Peter's idea) and then they TOWED it (Peter's idea) back to shore.

It may just be the cutest thing we've ever seen - take a look.
