Texas woman wakes up from surgery with British accent

She’s never even been there…

Following jaw surgery Texas woman Lisa Alami literally didn’t quite sound like herself after she woke up.

That’s because the surgery to fix an overbite has left her with an English accent, despite the fact Lisa has never set foot in the country.

The mother-of-three is said to have an extremely rare neurological condition know as foreign accent syndrome.

Apparently, fewer than 100 people worldwide have been diagnosed with the condition in the last CENTURY and it is not entirely clear to doctors why it comes about.

Lisa has had the syndrome for six months now and she hopes that speech therapy will help her speak in her normal accent once more.
