A particularly Irish word turned up at America's National Spelling Bee final

There was a nail-biting finish at America’s National Spelling Bee final yesterday as two tweens spelled words that most of us have never even heard of.
After battling 25 rounds head to head, Nihar Janga, from Texas, and Jairam Hathwar, from New York, 13 were eventually crowned co-winners and each awarded a not-so-shabby prize of $40,000.
The pair tackled a variety of obscure words with Jairam winning with "feldenkrais" (a method of education) and Nihar acing "gesellschaft" (a type of social relationship) to become the youngest winner since 2002.
But one word in particular lobbed at Nihar caught the ears of Irish viewers.
The 11-year-old was asked to spell ‘Taoiseach’ - and he instantly asked ‘is that an Irish word for prime minister?’ before casually reeling off the spelling.
We know some Irish grown-ups that would second guess themselves on that one.
People were impressed.
why does this 5th grader on the spelling bee know the definition to the word Taoiseach and i can't even spell tomorrow #spellingbee

This 11 yr old spelling bee kid just got the word "Taoiseach" and asked "Is this an Irish Prime Minister?" I have done nothing with my life.

I’m watching the national spelling bee. 13yr old kid spells Taoiseach correctly. I can’t even spell it well enough for Google to correct me!

But the real winner of the day was the official Twitter account of the Spelling Bee who delivered a sick spelling burn to a troll.
It’s gone viral and poor Kyle has deleted his account.
Oh well, you win some, you loose some.
*Lose. Dammit.
