Huge alligator shows up outside woman's back door

It was a big'un.

At around 11pm on Sunday night, Shatrina Greenwood and her 11-year-old daughter returned to their home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after an arts and crafts fair.

And that's when she heard a bang.

Shatrina went to investigate and came face to face with an absolutely enormous alligator right outside her backdoor.

She screamed, woke her husband and rang 911 and they referred her to the brilliantly-named ‘Snake Chaser Nuisance Wildlife Removal and Management Service’.

According to their Facebook page, they handle “snake removal, raccoon removal, bat removal, bee removal, mole removal, and any other wildlife causing problems”.

And the Snake Chaser, Russell Cavender, came right out to handle the problem, ‘in shorts’ as Shatrina remarked.

Despite that fact, he managed to wrangle the alligator solo and secured him in the back of his truck - and Shatrina filmed the entire feat.

The gator, which by this point Shatrina had nicknamed Alex Bobby, measured 8 feet 9 inches - but Russell believes he was missing the tip of his tail which would have given him another two foot.

And while the the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources had previously said it was likely the gator would be killed, Russell assured the family that Alex Bobby would be released into the wild, away from residential areas.

“He got kind of cute after a while," Shatrina told Fox 46.
