Cruz drops out of Republican race, accidentally elbows wife in face

It was a bad night all round for Senator Ted Cruz.

Not only were his presidential hopes dashed and the Republican nomination left in the hands of his nemesis Donald Trump (who has recently been implying that Cruz' father was linked to JFK's killer, Lee Harvey Oswald), the famously-awkward Cruz also became the subject of internet mockery after he elbowed his wife in the face not once, not twice but three times on the podium after withdrawing from the race.
