Puppy found by US Marines five weeks after being lost at sea
An 18-month-old puppy was rescued by US Marines on an island off the coast of California after being lost for five weeks without its owner.
In a story that seems to be a cross between Castaway and Homeward bound, Luna was out sailing with her owner when she disappeared.
Her distraught owner called in the Navy to search for his lost pooch, but after a few weeks without any sign, gave her up for dead.
Conor Lamb posted a goodbye tribute on Facebook to his lost pet but later received a call from the Marines telling him his dog had been found, safe and sound.
It turned out Luna had swam two and a half miles to shore on an island used by the army for live fire training and was found sitting patiently beside an deserted road.

It seems puppy love knows no bounds as this determined doggie was intent on finding his way back to his owner.
Luna had been living on rainwater, fish and rodents and received an honorary dog tag from the Navy inscribed: “Luna, keep the faith.”
Sounds like advice for her owner!
