Scooby Doo Mystery Van lookalike involved in police chase in California

A mini-van - painted to look like the vehicle from the Scooby Doo cartoons - has been involved in a police chase in North California.

The driver of the Mystery Machine lookalike reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour but abandoned the van.

The 51-year-old female driver managed to lose her pursuers and has disappeared.

Officers are still searching for her in connection with alleged probation violations.

The van left police struggling to describe what they were looking for: “It’s almost a keel green, ninties dodge caravan, yellow paint splattered on the side with Scooby Doo nonsense.

“To be specific it is supposed to be the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.”

Redding Police are now searching for 51-year-old Sharon Kay Turman, who was wanted for alleged probation violations.

Reports claim that Turman's 1994 Chrysler Town And Country minivan was painted to resemble the cartoon vehicle.

Police said Turman drove through several red lights, showing disregard for the safety of other motorists, prompting an end to the pursuit.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter pilot watched her abandon the vehicle.
