Homeless Belfast man sings gorgeous version of 'Summertime' on New Year's Eve
A homeless Belfast man has gone viral after a stunning impromptu duet with a busker in Leeds was shared on Facebook.
Johnny Walker was busking on New Year's Eve when Bernard Davey, who uses a wheelchair, asked if he could sing with him.
Walker obliged and asked a passerby to film the pair's performance of 'Summertime' which wowed onlookers.
The resulting video is something special.
Walker writes:
"As a busker, I spend a lot of time on the streets and had seen this man many times over the years, but didn't know he was singer, and, as the years had gone by, his health and wellbeing seemed to have worsened a great deal.
He went on to say that his spontaneous jam with Bernard "was a soul-affirming, enriching experience which summed up everything I love about street culture.
"The streets are full of wonderful surprises and stories. I hope Bernard's amazing improvised version of 'Summertime' helps people to remember not to judge people they see on the streets according to their appearances, but to always look below the surface appearance and find the person underneath."
Between YouTube and Facebook, the video has over 420,000 views. Walker is also doing a sponsored sober year in 2016 to raise funds for charities that help the homeless - you can donate to that here.
