Irish parents bring son to tears with early Christmas gift

When the Phelan family returned to Ireland for a family wedding from China, parents Edel and Glenn spotted the ideal opportunity give their son Kai the ultimate Christmas present.

The Phelans have lived in Beijing for ten years and their son Kai adores Manchester United.

Seeing their chance, while back on this side of the globe, they decided to call Kai into the room and give him a Christmas present he will never forget.

After telling Kai he’s going to Old Trafford today to see Manchester United the youngster can’t help but burst into tears of gratitude and tell his parents how much he loves them.

Edel sent the video to JOE.ie explaining the trip was for Kai’s birthday and Christmas presents.

“We are home for a family wedding and as our son Kai is a die hard United fanatic we booked tickets for his birthday, which is Wednesday and Christmas,” Edel told JOE.

“He is the sweetest kid you will ever meet and his reaction has had us all in tears.”

The duo headed off to Manchester this morning and even the club are looking forward to seeing them.

Manchester United play Norwich at 3pm and we hope for Kai’s sake they pick up from their recent form to give him an even more special day.
