A lovely story for this time of year.

Would you accept this cake from a bakery? One woman is delighted she did

Lisa Sarber Aldrich is receiving a lot of love online for her story of accepting the writing on her cake from the bakery in a local grocery shop in the US state of Michigan.

Lisa, from Grand Rapids in the state, bought the cake for a party she was attending and asked the “bakery-looking-employee” at the Meijer store to write a message on the cake for her.

After taking the cake away for what Lisa describes as a “long time”, the employee came back with the cake and without looking at the finished article Lisa thanked her. On her way to the counter Lisa saw the writing on the cake and “nervously laughed”, before deciding to proceed with purchase anyway.

She explained her reason for not complaining about the writing in a post on her Facebook page.

“It didn't really matter to me that it looked so bad, I thought people would think it was funny,” read Lisa’s post.

When she got to the counter Lisa said the cashiers didn’t think her cake “was so funny though” and they, as well as their manager, started to gather around her cake to take pictures.

Confused at this point, one of the cashiers finally clued Lisa into what was going by telling her: “The girl who wrote that has autism.”

“Thank you for smiling and thanking her. Even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.”

If you can’t read the Facebook post, you can read it here.

Lisa has been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to her post, which has been shared over 70,000 times, and feels “the moral of the story is that kindness is important.”

It would seem, especially coming into the Christmas season, to be quite an appropriate message that Lisa is preaching.
