Here's what Twitter thinks about Back to the Future day

It has been a day we were all waiting for and I think it is fair to say we are all a little bit disappointed.

No matter how rational you are a small part of you thought Marty McFly was going to go back to the future today with his good friend Dr Emmett Brown and his girlfriend Jennifer Parker.

The time has come and gone for Marty's arrival from the past to the present -which was his future (it's all a little bit confusing) and Twitter has celebrated in style with everyone getting in on the #BacktotheFuture action.

Of course, the actors from the original movie had their own special way of welcoming the future into the present.

Here in Ireland Back to the Future was obviously on everyone's mind as colleges and the Gardaí got involved in the make-believe story citing their own versions of what happened on this day.
