A Total Lunar Eclipse is happening next Monday

Mark your calendar and dust of the telescope because there is some epic lunar activity expected next Monday, September 28.

A Total Lunar Eclipse (just like the one in the Jaffa cake ads) will cover the moon on September 28 and last an hour and 12 minutes.

The Total Lunar Eclipse, otherwise known as a blood moon, occurs when the Earth’s Penumbra and umbra cross over the face of the moon, shading it from view.

The event will occur pretty late, with maximum effect being visible at 3:47am so set the alarm or get the coffee flask full for a night battling sleep.

It will a pretty entertaining night for anyone with an interest in lunar activity, but for those who don’t, here’s the Jaffa Cake version which always makes us smile.

Enjoy.
