Ultra proud single mother rents billboard to praise her son

Single mother-of-six Ovella O’Neal was so happy with the fact her son Aljelani Igwe was graduating from high school, she felt she had to shout it from the rooftops – quite literally.

Ovella amazingly purchased a billboard in Camden, New Jersey to celebrate the fact her son Aljelani had recently graduated from the Leap Academy Charter School.

The billboard, which features a picture of Aljelani, 18, cost Ovella $725 (€647.47) to put up and carried the message: “A mother can’t raise a man, but I raised a gentleman.”

To put Ovella's gesture into prospective, in 2013 Camden, New Jersey had the highest crime rate in the entire United States and stats reveal that about two out every of five high school seniors failed to graduate in the Camden area last year.

After seeing the billboard for the first time a startled Aljelani said to his mother: “Oh my God. How did you get that up there?”

The youngster now plans to attend Rowan University in autumn to study engineering and plans to buy his brilliant mother a BMW once he finds his feet in life.

You can’t beat a mother’s love it seems!
