This poor guy was VERY confused by the 'ball' he found in his can of Guinness

He also drank it straight from the can.

We guess if you've never seen one of these yokes before you might be a bit bemused.

Redditor Mr_honesty_ posted this photo to the Ireland subreddit asking for a little guidance on the strange item he found in his first ever can of Guinness.

"Hello, yesterday night I had my first Guinness! But this ball was inside it, I cut it out. Can someone explain this?"

Fellow users kindly explained that although it may look like a ping pong ball, the widget was actually put there on purpose.

He was grateful for the help and also discovered that he had made a bigger mistake - drinking it straight from the can (the horror).

"Oh.. I drank it straight from the can and it didn't taste good... And this for being a waiter and a bartender is kinda stupid that I didn't do it".

*shakes head*

Here's hoping his next Guinness is a less traumatic experience.
