VIDEO: Stranger leaves wonderful note for five-year-old nervous of reading
Ella Mitchell, 5, was on the bus with her mother Alaura Mae when a man strangely handed Alaura a note.
Ella, from Seattle in the US, had been telling her mother about how she was a little afraid of starting kindergarten (playschool) and especially learning to read.
In the middle of the journey Alaura found it weird as she was handed a note by fellow passenger, who had obviously overheard the nervous girl.
"When you practice letters enough, and the sounds they make, they'll start to work together and make sense, and then you'll be reading. When you can read, you'll know what EVERYTHING says.
“All the signs, all the names, all the books, writing is EVERYWHERE if you look. Soon you'll be able to read books, and everything there is to know is in them!
“You'll be able to find out whatever you want! It probably won't be easy, but it won't be hard forever. It's going to be so exciting! Good luck!"
Since she was handed the note last week, Alaura has tracked down the guy responsible for it and thanked him for the encouragement he provided for Ella.
The man didn’t want to publicise his name - but according to Alaura he told her he had difficulty learning to read as a boy and passed the note because he wanted to offer support to Ella, while also trying to respect the family’s privacy.
After being read the note over and over again, Ella now feels happier about starting kindergarten and is really looking forward to learning to read properly.
