Football mascot gets smashed drunk and collapses in middle of football pitch - on TV

While Austria Vienna were beating their opponent in Saturday's Austrian Bundesliga match, their mascot, Super Leo the lion, was enjoying himself a little too much.

The mascot stumbled onto the pitch, apparently severely intoxicated, without his head - and despite giving it his best and a couple of attempts, eventually gave up and let gravity take over.

Once he managed to get to his feet, he seemed pretty insistent on continuing with his job – and had to be gently discouraged by attendants.

According to ESPN, it was the actor's 42nd birthday - and he just might have been celebrating before the game.

Though if one is going to consume dehydrating alcohol, climbing into the rubber hotbox that is your average mascot costume is probably not the best move.
