102-year-old woman sees her younger self dancing on film for the first time ever
Alice Barker is 102 years old.
Back in the 1930s and 1940s, she was a chorus-line dancer in the Harlem Resistance and danced in clubs such as the Apollo and Zanzibar Club with legends like Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
And while throughout her successful career as a dancer that saw her dance in TV shows and ads, Alice had never seen herself dance.
So staff at her retirement home in Brooklyn and Mark Cantor from Jazz films worked together to track some footage down.
Cantor managed to find several amazing videos that show Alice dancing on stage in her 20s. He brought them to her room to show her and her family.
In the bittersweet video, Alice remarks that itâs âmaking me wish I could get out of this bed and do it all over againâ.
