Have you noticed those Snapchat changes? Here’s what you need to know…

If you’re a Snapchat user, you may have noticed that The Powers That Be have replaced the ‘best friends’ feature with emoji.

The company writes:

"Starting today, a bunch of emojis will be popping up in your Snapchat friends list.

“No, they weren't just our favourite ones (shout out to the poop emoji), they actually mean something super-important — they break down your whole squad."

There are six new symbols that show the level of relationship you have with your Snapchat friends.

A smiling face with rosy cheekswill denote a best friend, but not your number one BF. Obvs.

The smiley face with sunglasses will appear when you have a mutual Best Friend.

The gold/yellow heart will appear next to the name of the person you interact with the most, your #1 Best Friend - the one who send the most snaps to and who sends you the most.

The smirking face will appear next to someone who sends you a lot of snaps - but who you don’t send a lot back. Ice cold…

The grimacing smiley face indicates that your #1 Best Friend is also their #1 Best Friend. Awwkward…

And a flame emoji will appear when you’ve started a ‘Snapstreak’ - sending snaps back and forth on consecutive days. You’ll also be able to tell how many days you’ve been keeping it up for.

The app was also updated with a ‘needs love’ feature to nudge you towards those you’ve been neglecting on Snapchat. And many will be glad to learn there is now a special camera mode for low light - indicated by a small moon at the top left hand corner of the screen.

What do you think of all the changes?
