VIDEO: Rhino charges after motorcycle in Nepalese city rampage

Video: Storyful

A wild rhinoceros rampaged through a small city in Nepal this morning, killing one woman and injuring others as it chased residents through the streets.

Dramatic footage published online shows the rhino charging after a motorcycle at high speed as residents attempted to drive the animal out of the city of Hetauda.

The Associated Press reported that attempts to herd the animal by honking car horns and beating drums were ineffective, and the local government dispatched teams with tranquilizer guns to deal with the animal.

The dead woman was identified as a 61-year-old who was gored by the rhino on the outskirts of the city.

Rhinos may be incredibly large and heavy, but their entire evolution has geared them for charging at speed - they can clock speed of up to 35–40mph (55 – 64kph).
