Three-year-old donates hair after seeing a sick little girl online who had none

Ariana Smith had never had a haircut before but when she saw a video about an ill little girl who had lost her hair, she didn't hesitate in offering her own.

Her dad Josh explained what happened after posting her story on Imgur:

"My 3yr old daughter saw a little girl without hair and asked why she was bald. I explained she was sick and the medicine made her hair fall out. Without a breath she said, "Oh. She can have some of my hair."

After her parents explained to her what that would entail, Ariana was determined to go through with her offer.

"We never had to reinforce the donation or talk her into doing it... When she offered to donate her hair to the ‘sick little girl,’ we just kind of accepted and encouraged it,” Josh told Buzzfed news.

They decided to donate Ariana's hair to Locks of Love, a charity that helps disadvantaged children suffering hair loss.

Ariana then went to her mother's hairdresser for her first haircut. And Ariana was very excited about it - despite previously having been reluctant to get even a trim.

The hairdresser cut ten inches off of Ariana's hair which was then donated to the worthy cause.

And Ariana was very happy with her new 'do, singing about it on the car journey home.

Josh says: “I’d like to think she did it because she had a sort of understanding that she had something another person did not, and it’s the right thing to do.”.
