Christmas FM is back today for round the clock festive cheer

With less than a month until Christmas day, it's finally socially acceptable to indulge in festive tunes - and Christmas FM has just powered up the radio tower to provide 24-hour cheer.

From noon Saturday, you can tune in to the charity radio station wherever you are in the country, or listen online from anywhere in the world at ChristmasFM.com.

This year's charity partner is Age Action, and money raised from public donations will go towards home repair and maintenance for vulnerable older people in Ireland.

The running costs are covered by sponsorship from Centra, so every penny from donations goes straight to the charity.

Frequencies by county

• Dublin City and County 94.3FM

• Dublin Commuter Belt 88.1FM

• Limerick 105.5FM

• Galway 89.5FM

Songwriting competition

This year, the station is also running a songwriting competition for Irish people who fancy themselves as the poetical type.

It closes on December 7, so all you have to do is record your Christmas song, upload the audio to Soundcloud and enter it online here. The finalists then go to a public vote.

Apart from the exposure, there's a €500 gift card in it for the winner.
