TV3 suspends Ireland AM tweets after anti-water charges message

TV3 has frozen activity on its Ireland AM Twitter account after an anti-water charges tweet was sent encouraging people to attend a demonstration early next month.

The tweet, sent to the account's 31,000 followers, read: "We all need to make a stand on December 10th!! @FineGael have taken, taken, taken. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"

It has since been deleted.

In a subsequent tweet, the station said they had frozen their account use while they investigated the source of the tweet.

"Previous tweet addressing Fine Gael is not an Ireland AM opinion," they tweeted. "Our Account will be frozen while we address this. Apologies."

A media report that the account had been hacked by a third party as a form of protest could not be immediately be confirmed.
