Video: Marine survives headshot from Taliban sniper thanks to helmet

This was incredibly close.

This is an extremely nerve-racking watch.

This video - filmed back in 2013 - shows a group of US Marines in Afghanistan. The trio are on a helicopter raid in the Now Zad district in the Helmand Province when they come under fire.

A shot rings out and the Marines retreat but not before one of them gets a headshot from a Taliban sniper. Luckily, it hits his Kevlar helmet and he is unharmed - except for ringing ears.

It's a dramatic look at the dangers these soldiers face every day - and the relief of a near miss.
