VINE: Huge squid attacks Greenpeace submarine
A Humboldt squid was caught on camera attacking a Greenpeace submarine during a recent expedition to the Bering Sea.
While not as large as the notorious and rare Giant Squid, these guys are still pretty big - they can grow up to 1.2 metres long. Known as 'red devils' for their aggressive personalities and their habit of turning red when in attack mode, their tentacles are lined with very small, very sharp teeth which can cause a lot of damage.
In the Vine, one of the squids can also be seen shooting ink at the sub while the other swims close by.
The divers were in no danger - protected as they were by their metal submarine.
Still pretty freaky though.
