A New York subway station was turned into a luxury spa for a few hours
It's hot in New York at the moment and it gets even steamier down in the subway stations.
As there's no air conditioning in the underground stations, commuters are stifling so this improv group decided to turn the heat to their advantage -much to the bemusement of the other passengers.
Setting up shop in the hottest station of them all - NRQ platform at 34th Street. where temeratures reach 32° C - the troupe Improv Everywhere turned the platform into a luxuty spa - with iced water, spritzes, sauna and lots of people wandering around in towels and flip-flops.
The spa was the brainchild of Improv Everywhere member Charlie Todd. Writing on their website, he describes the reaction of the public, many of whom got involved:
"We got tons of great reactions from the other New Yorkers on the platform. Lots of people sat down next to our performers."
"Every couple of minutes a new train arrived and a new crowd of people stumbled upon our spa," he said.
Free spa treatments. How bad?
