So is it true love or just a holiday romance?

#LoveAt FirstFlight couple had their first official date yesterday

With all eyes on them, Jamie Kelly and Katie Moreau went on their very first date yesterday in Waterford and it seems to have gone ok. Phew!

The pair joined Ray D’Arcy in the studio this morning and spilled the beans on their first meeting in person since Jamie’s international internet campaign to find Katie.

They were interviewed separately about how the date went and it was then played back to them live on air. Way to make things awkward, Ray.

Luckily, both Katie and Jamie thought the day was a success - with each of them commenting on the good food, good conversation and their similar sense of humour.

"It went very well. We had a really nice time, everyone we met treated us like celebrities," said Jamie.

Katie agreed:

"The day went really well. Started out a little awkward, I didn't know whether to hug him or shake his hand or what to do but I went in for a hug. It was when people asked for pictures that it was very awkward."

Yeah, that’s the problem with worldwide internet campaigns to go on dates - they're not exactly going to be private.

You can even follow the progression of their evening on Twitter. First, they went surfing.

Then, they met for a romantic dinner.

They also were treated to champagne, a trip in a Chrysler and Katie even got jewellery. Nice!

Listen to the couple describe the date and what's next for them:

Like everyone’s favourite tactless uncle, Ray then asked about their chemistry. And while Jamie confirmed there was indeed a goodnight kiss that was as far as it went.

Or at least that's all they're going to tell us.

Unfortunately, Katie has to head home to Canada tomorrow to go finish her studies but the pair plan to keep in touch. And who knows what could happen?
