California locals told NOT to call police if Facebook goes down

"This is not a law enforcement issue."

Californian residents have been warned not to dial 999 when Facebook goes off line.

The social networking site had a brief outage over the weekend which affected the Los Angeles area and the County Sheriff’s Department was inundated with calls.
