Quite literally the meaning of insane.

This is the Verrückt. It is 168 feet tall – or 51.2 metres – and is the world's tallest waterslide.

The vertigo-inducing nightmare was due to open in late May, but has faced a series of delays - most recently due to a problem with the conveyer belt.

But that hasn't stopped the Kansas City Schlitterbahn park showing us what a camera strapped to a sandbag barrelling down the slide looks like.

The slide carries four people at a time on rafts, at plummeting speeds of more than 60 miles per hour (96.6kph).

The video includes several warnings that no actual riders were involved in the demonstration - sandbags only - which is very reassuring, we're sure, for the first few riders.

The slide had to be completely reconfigured after the first few test-runs, which saw sandbags fly off the slide.

But a spokesperson for the park said they were happy to take the embarrassment of delays rather than open a ride that was not yet ready.

Oh, and Verrückt? It means insane in German.
