Woman almost burns down her house trying to kill a spider
A woman in Kansas has been charged with arson after setting fire to her house - in order to kill a spider. And not a black widow or anything - just a regular house spider.
Ginny M. Griffith told police that she set some towels on fire after seeing the spider in her home.
In a press release, Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hanen said that firefighters "found light smoke coming from the woman’s half of the duplex and some clothing smoldering just inside the doorway. They found multiple other points of origin for the fire and brought it under control within minutes."
Luckily no one was injured and there was only light smoke damage. However, because the other half of the duplex was also occupied, Griffith has been charged with aggravated arson and is being held on $7,500 bond.
No word yet on whether the spider survived.
But it probably did.
