Is there a crocodile swimming around Bristol?

There have been four sightings of the elusive beast. Or it could just be a log.

Is there a crocodile swimming around Bristol?

Is this the Bristol crocodile?

The above photo was taken by Tamara Blanco as she was out jogging by the River Avon in Bristol.

"I felt scared at the time because the thing - whatever it was - was moving in the water,’ she said.

"I could feel my hair start to stand on end and I thought ‘Oh my God, is it a crocodile?’ and I just left the place."

This is not the first time that the shy reptile has been spotted in Bristol. The first sighting was reported back in February when a bus driver claimed to have spotted a 6 foot crocodile under a bridge. He contacted police and, while they had a look, found nothing.

A few days later after that incident, a local woman reported seeing the croc and a local councillor later caught the 'crocodile' on video.

Ok, whatever about the photo and the other reported sightings but that is DEFINITELY a log, right? Come on...

Bristol police will not be investigating the latest sighting as it hasn't been reported to them. There have also been no reports of missing crocodiles from local zoos.

So is it possible for a crocodile to survive in the cold waters of Bristol's river? Maybe.

Mr Benjamin Tapley, team leader of herpetology at ZSL London Zoo, told the Telegraph that although the crocodiles could possibly survive in British waters, they wouldn't flourish as it is too cold.

What do you think? Crocodile or log?

Maybe it's an alligator? Did anyone think of that?
