VIDEO: Texas police officer rescues woman from tracks - seconds before train passes
This Texas police officer is being hailed as a hero after pulling a woman off train tracks just before a train roared by.
Officer Ramon Morales was flagged down by a passer-by who noticed an apparently suicidal woman on the tracks near an intersection.
On its Facebook page, the Richmond Police Department described what happened next.
“As he approached the railroad crossing the warning lights and bell sounded for an approaching train. Without regard for his own safety. Officer Morales went on the tracks and pulled the female off shortly before the train arrived at the location.”
“Officer Morales then kept the female from standing back up and running back to the train.”
The ordeal was captured on the police car’s dashcam. In the video, the rescued woman can be heard crying. She has since been taken to hospital for evaluation.
While he has been widely praised, the officer - who has only been a cop for 10 months - is reported to have given credit for the rescue to the unknown passer-by who alerted him.
