O'Dowd's reaction to losing out at the Tonys is pure … well, O'Dowd

Ah, Chris O'Dowd. Doing the Irish proud on the bright lights of Broadway - most of the time.

The Roscommon man was at the Tony theatre awards last night, up for best performance in his role – opposite James Franco – in Of Mice and Men.

Sadly, he was beaten to the punch by Bryan Cranston - but he brought his own. Punch, that is.

As the winner is announced, O'Dowd is consoled by his wife Dawn O'Porter - and raises his hip flask with an air of "oh well." Great timing, too, as he fits in the cheeky gesure just as the camera begins to pan away.

Classy gent, that O'Dowd. No glass-bottle naggins for him. Although perhaps it was all a wind-up and he was sipping on fruit juice.

And it looks like he predicted Breaking Bad star Cranston would pip him to the post, too.

Good man, Chris. Good man.
