Your guide to the emotional rollercoaster that is the Bank Holiday Weekend
It’s Friday... And it’s going to be sunny, so you’re probably feeling pretty excited. THREE DAY WEEKEND!
Bank holiday weekends tend to inspire a certain mania among the Irish, especially if the sun comes out.
You'll experience a rollercoaster of emotions over the next three days - from dizzying highs to gloomy lows. But don’t worry - that's completely normal.
At this point, you’ve likely completely given up on pretending to work. That’s because it’s almost five o’clock and you’ve got that Friday feeling!
You have three whole days stretching out before you, endless days of fun and freedom.
You probably have a lot of important things planned for the weekend. Things to do, people to see - you know how it goes:
Catching some rays...
Pulling some shapes:
Of course, when Sunday morning comes around, you're probably going to be feeling a little worse for wear - you'll wake up, and memories of the night before will come rushing into your pounding head. It’s The Fear.
But wait a sec - it might be Sunday, but you don't have to go to work tomorrow! Best weekend EVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
So you're going to rally, you're going to pull yourself together, head out on the town and you're gonna feel fan.tas.tic.
When you wake up on Monday morning, be prepared. This time The Fear is going to be very real. Your near future features an empty wallet and a very sore head.
Sure, you might try to have one last hurrah. But the pub is full of zombies and your heart isn’t in it. It’s like everyone is on death row and the execution is tomorrow.
We're not going to lie to you - Tuesday will be ROUGH. You may feel like there is no hope, no light at the end of the tunnel.
But don't give up, everybody will be in the same boat.
And, hey - only two months to the next Bank Holiday weekend.
Enjoy the long weekend, everyone!
