Comedian pranks Northern radio station as Liverpool gaffer

Meet Shane Todd and he does a pretty convincing Brendan Rodgers!

Shane, a comedian from Holywood in Co Down, was very prepared for this prank - even down to the fake airport noise as he pretended to be ‘Craig’ the Man United fan in Liverpool airport.

He called up BBC Radio Foyle and spun them a yarn about how he was three seats away from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in the airport.

The producers of the ‘Lunchtime with Mark Patterson’ show called ‘Craig’ back as quick as lightening and brought him on air to ask him about his encounter with the Reds gaffer.

‘Craig’ proceeded to offer the very excited hosts the chance to speak to Rodgers, which of course they took up!

While struggling to believe their luck the DJ’s ask ‘Brendan’ about the health of star striker Luis Suarez after his knee surgery yesterday.

We have to give it to Shane for his perfect use of generic, deadpan manager answers and for about two minutes he has the presenters, Martin Patterson and Michael O’Donnell, believing they might have a massive scoop.

To be fair to the guys they twig on onto Shane before the final question and are really good sports for leaving him promote his upcoming comedy gig.

Sports stars from the North, including Irish Olympic boxer Paddy Barnes and Ulster rugby player Darren Cave, have been retweeting the video since last night and we think it is a good effort by Mr Todd.

What do you think Liverpool fans?

Shane has been featured on the BBC before, you can check out some of his stuff below.
