Discovering Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland
Big fan of ? Ever wanted to visit the Kingsroad, try your hand at archery, or explore the castles?
Well, that's just what a group of Brazilian friends studying here did, as they hunted down the locations used to film the HBO series in Northern Ireland.
"We rented a car and drove oven 800 km in 2 days for many villages, cities and small towns documenting the beautiful landscapes and castles of the Island," said Rafaela, one of the team.
Arguably, they've done a better job of selling it than the actual tourism body.
Northern Ireland tourism has been capitalising on the show's popularity for a while now, even, oddly, adopting the show's apocalyptic motto "Winter is Coming" as a way to attract visitors. Because that sounds attractive.
There's even a special exhibition opening in Belfast from June 11-15, featuring props from the set of the show, and maps of key filming locations available.
