'Family Guy' to meet 'The Simpsons' in crossover episode this autumn

The first images from the upcoming Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode have been released and, while it's sort of strange to see the two very different cartoon families interact, it's got us very excited.

The hour-long special, which will be called 'The Simpsons Guy', will air this autumn and will see the two families officially meet on screen for the first time.

The episode will follow the Griffin family as they leave Quahog to visit Springfield where they spend some time with Homer, Marge and the kids.

Lois and Marge apparently get on well, both vowing to give up household chores, while Lisa and Meg bond, presumably over being the black sheep of the family. In one of the photos released, Bart is seen teaching Stewie how to skateboard (amazing).

Homer and Peter are probably going to get themselves into some sort of trouble but it remains to be seen whether the two accident-prone patriarchs will hit it off.

The episode is scheduled to air in September and will be the start of the 26th(!) season of The Simpsons and the 13th season of Family Guy.

Griffins vs Simpsons.

We. Can't. Wait.
