Man clings to speeding taxi for eight miles after failed carjacking
This guy got more than he bargained for when he tried to carjack a New York taxi on Monday night.
Twenty-six-year-old Matthew McCorkle was attempting to break into the taxi when its driver took off, leaving him clinging to the car door.
The video shows him hanging on to the side of the yellow cab as it speeds down the highway. He held on for EIGHT MILES before jumping off when the taxi hit a traffic jam and miraculously escaped with no injuries.
The grainy footage was caught by another driver who noticed the man hanging onto the car and trying to kick in the window.
Driver Mohammed Millogo told WCBS the would-be carjacker frightened him.
"This guy tried to get in my car. If he got in my car or he's going to try to -- I don't know what he can have," said the driver. "'He can have a weapon. He can have a knife. Anything can happen to me -- my safety first.
"Then I called the police and even I slowed down for him because I don't want him to get hurt."
McCorkle was subsequently arrested by police and apparently admitted to being on quite the cocktail of drugs.
Ah.
