Riverdance is 20 years old today

Riverdance was introduced to the world 20 years ago today.

As votes were being counted in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest on 30 April 1994, Riverdance burst onto the stage, taking the audience in the Point Theatre and television viewers by storm.

The first performance featured vocals of anúna, with the arrival two minutes in of Jean Butler and Michael Flatley, ending with the iconic line of Irish dancers in harmony.

20 years later, 25 million audience members have seen Riverdance, and it still tours today.

The production is looking for people's memories of where they were when it took to the stage for the first time, or from dancers it has inspired over the last 20 years at #riverdance20, or on the website, riverdance.com.
