Runaway horse and carriage crash into six cars in city gallop

A horse gets spooked, gallops through intersections and crashes into five parked cars in this clip, before it’s stopped and “calmed down with carrots”.

Something scared this horse into a six-block gallop through busy intersections, scattering pedestrians and making cars swerve to avoid it.

Two women and three children were riding in the carriage through Savannah's historic district in Georgia in the US when the horse took fright for reasons unknown.

The startled animal starts running and doesn’t stop for six blocks, crashing into five parked cars as it bolts through the city, Savannah Chatham Metropolitan police said.

The five passengers jumped from the carriage and suffered minor injuries.

The surveillance camera video released by police shows the whole high-speed adventure as the horse charges through busy intersections and cars swerve to avoid it.

Police said employees at a nearby restaurant caught up with the animal and calmed it down with carrots.
