Dublin hosts first X Factor auditions of 2014

The X Factor auditions kick off in Dublin this morning for the first time in four years.

Dublin's Convention Centre is set to host the very first round of the X Factor's open auditions tour for 2014.

It is the show that discovered One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson.

Executive producer Mark Sidaway advised hopefuls to "come with something that's going to make you stand out from the crowd".

"If you look at previous successful auditions, people have come out and done something different," he said.

Last month Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole announced their return to the show's judging panel.

However, the pair won't be in Dublin today as the auditions are at a very early stage.
