An astronaut's guide to hurling
In which our hero - intergalactic time-traveller and adopted Irishman Commander Chris Hadfield - takes up a hurley on behalf of Irish tourism.
With cameras following his every move, Chris and his moustache learn the basics of our national sport at the GAA clubs of Na Fianna in Dublin and Cushendall in Co Antrim.
He also takes part in challenge match under the critical eye of Cushendall legend Sambo McNaughton.
We think he fared surprisingly well, but he's not up to Sambo's standards…
Of course, it's all part of Tourism Ireland's promotional drive featuring Cmd Hadfield.
Tourism chiefs filmed him as he spent several days as a ‘tourist’, visiting some of our top attractions and experiences, with the resulting four short videos called “An Astronauts Guide to the Island of Ireland”.
The other three short films are "An Astronaut's Guide to The Wild Atlantic Way", "An Astronaut's Guide to Titanic Belfast" and An Astronaut's Guide to the Guinness Storehouse" and you can watch them all here.
The films will be promoted around the globe by Tourism Ireland.
Thanks Chris!
