Perfect moment appears to show mid-air brush
Holy moley!
This amazing photo from Photographer Sebastien Lebrigand appears to show a Ryanair aeroplane about to collide with an Iberia craft going the opposite direction.
Sebastien was taking his photos from ground level with a very powerful zoom lens – so there's perspective at play here – and the planes are actually a safe distance apart and pass without incident.
Usually, safe minimum distance is 300m vertically (1,000 feet). But from the ground, looking at something 30,000 feet up, an extra 1,000 doesn't look like much.
Still, what a perfect moment to capture the apparent drama!
Lebigrand has some amazing photos in his stream, particularly of the moon at night and aircraft passing in front of it. You can browse them using the arrow buttons on the embedded stream above.
